How to Make Homemade Nerds Ropes

Ingredients & Equipment

·         1 cup Gummy Bears (or gummy worms/gummy candy of your choice)

·         1.5 cups Nerds Candy (rainbow or single-flavor variants)

·         Aluminum Foil or parchment paper

·         Microwave-safe bowl

·         Spoon or piping bag

Step-by-Step Preparation

1.      Prepare the Foil Channels: Cut a 12-inch piece of aluminum foil and fold it into narrow, trough-like channels about 1 inch wide. These channels will hold the Nerds candy in place and help shape your gummy ropes into uniform strips.

2.      Lay Down the Nerds: Evenly pour a thick layer of Nerds candy into the bottom of each foil channel. Make sure there are no bare spots so the melted gummy sticks evenly without adhering to the foil.

3.      Melt the Gummy Center: Place the gummy bears in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the mixture, as sugar can burn quickly.

4.      Form the Ropes: Transfer the melted gummy mixture into a small zip-top bag or piping bag and snip off a small corner. Pipe a steady strip of melted gummy directly over the line of Nerds candy in your prepared channels.

5.      Coat and Set: Immediately sprinkle another generous layer of Nerds over the top of the warm gummy strip. Press lightly with your fingers so the candies adhere to all sides of the rope.
